1. Where do you call home?
I live in Frederick, Maryland. My family has lived in this city for hundreds of years, and it’s a city with a captivating history.
The educational opportunities here are exceptional, and I’ve had the privilege of receiving a top-notch education in this vibrant community. From exploring historic sites to embracing local culture, Frederick has provided me with endless opportunities for growth and enrichment.
I feel incredibly fortunate to have such a deep connection to this remarkable city and to have called it home throughout my life.
2. How many years have you worked in the ABA field?
Working in the ABA field for five years has been an incredible journey for me. It all started when I was a freshman in college and began working as an Autism Waiver Provider. That experience opened the door to my passion for working with children and young adults with ASD. Before joining Applied ABC, I worked for another company as a behavioral technician.
3. How did you end up working for Applied ABC?
During the pandemic, I made the transition to working with Applied ABC because they provided more opportunities for growth and supported safety regulations. Now, as I enter my fifth year as a behavioral therapist, I’m also pursuing a master’s degree in applied behavior analysis. It’s an exciting journey, and I’m grateful for the chance to make a difference in the lives of those I work with.
4. What’s the most fulfilling part of your work?
The most fulfilling aspect of my work in ABA therapy is the opportunity to help families and children enhance their quality of life through strategic and scientifically based interventions. My goal is to empower them to achieve as much independence as possible and lead happy, fulfilling lives. It warms my heart when a client greets me independently or when we have our own special games and jokes that encourage positive social interactions. Building meaningful connections with these incredible children and witnessing their growth and progress is what truly makes me love my job.
5. How do you unwind after a long day?
After a long day, I love to unwind and relax. One of my favorite ways to do this is by taking a peaceful walk in nature. Frederick has some beautiful parks and trails where I can immerse myself in the calming sounds of nature and let go of any stress or tension from the day. It’s like a breath of fresh air for my mind and body.
Another way I like to unwind is by indulging in my hobbies. Whether it’s painting, playing an instrument, or even just curling up with a good book, engaging in activities that bring me joy and allow me to express myself helps me unwind and recharge. It’s a wonderful way to escape from the demands of the day and focus on something that truly brings me happiness.
6. What are some interesting facts about you?
I love playing the guitar! There’s something magical about strumming the strings and creating beautiful melodies. It’s one of my go-to ways to unwind and express myself.
Oh, and I can’t forget to mention my furry companion, my adorable cat, Juniper. He is my constant source of entertainment and cuddles.
In addition to these passions, I also enjoy writing. It’s a joy to spark imagination and curiosity in young minds through storytelling.
When I’m not busy with my hobbies, I love exploring new restaurants and going to the movies with my fiancé. It’s always fun to try different cuisines and catch the latest films together.
Lastly, I have a deep appreciation for nature and enjoy hiking. There’s something so refreshing about being surrounded by the beauty of the outdoors and challenging myself with new trails.
